Right to Emergency Care

"Eh, koi form bharo yaar ; emergency case hai" ... Someone heard this at the Supreme Court, I guess... A sensible judgement, at last!! Take a look at this.

Another day...

There are sooo many times in life when you are glad that you are alone, right? And wish that, it remain like that; coz, whatever happens, at the end of the day, no one else can understand you better than you do. Yes, maybe sometimes, it takes a little bit of effort to understand yourself (esp if you are a girl ;) ) but what the hell? What matters is, you HAVE to and you DO understand. ;) My day did not have a great start today, with a backache, body ache, stomach ache coupled with a hell lot of things which have been confusing me from past 2 weeks.. but on my way to office today, I just realised that I should let some things to God and be myself. (Simplest solution invented by mankind to all problems in life, if you ask me! ) And, once I did that, I fell in love with myself all over again ;) and really, THANK GOD! it seems to have got resolved. At least the things that were confusing me! And as it always happens, once the mind is clear, body becomes healthy. :D

A billion possibilities...

I can't understand what is the absolute right thing to do, really. Maybe there really isn't anything like that, either. I am pretty sure that 99% of the 20-30 age group won't know of this too. Ok, what I am talking about is arranged marriages vs love marriages. I really wanna know the opinions of all those people who go through this post. It helps to have discussions when you are confused about things which form a very important phase in life.

My take on why love marriages work:

1. You already know the person with whom you are going to be, for the rest of your life. This gives a lot of comfort level.

2. You know what will work and what wont work between you two, so, you don't force things on each other.

My take on why love marriages don't work:

1. If you come across something that you do not like in your partner, even if it a small thing, it disturbs you and makes you think whether you really chose the right person (possibility of a negative mindset) esp, if you have married going against your family.

2. You already know so much about each other, you might just get bored. This might sound like a stupid reason. But it does happen sometimes that you know so much of each other that you would want some space. There is hardly any element of surprise left. And, life is not too much of a fun without some surprises here and there.

My take on why arranged marriages work:

1. You are not alarmed when you come across some habit in your partner that you don't really like. You would have not have known every little thing about him/her before marriage and so, instead of brooding over how it didn't get noticed by you before, you think of ways to get over that problem you have with your partner. Saves up a lot of unnecessary resentment and worry.

2. Astrologically speaking, your horoscopes should have matched before marriage. So, there is a positive feeling everytime you come across a difficulty. Just helps in the mental makeup, in case you believe in astrology, that is..

My take on why arranged marriages don't work:

1. You hardly know that person well before marriage. He/she might just be totally of a different wavelength.

2. You might need to do a lot of things which you don't like/ you don't feel comfortable doing, in order to make the other person happy or to just understand that person better, and, if continued for a long time, becomes very annoying.

Like I mentioned in the title, there are a billion possibilities in each of these 2 type of marriages. Maybe successful marriages have lot more to do with God's will than anything else. But as humans, we ought to justify ourselves atleast as to why one chooses one type over the other. Hence, the post. Please come up with comments.

Everything happens for a reason...

Well, thats what I've been telling myself from my school days - more so during those times in life, when things didn't seem to be going all that great. And has this thinking helped me? Yes, ofcourse! However hard it might seem to accept this sometimes, in a long run, I believe we do get some answers as to why certain things happen. As for the unanswered questions, well, there will be a reason to why you don't have the answers yet..

Basically, its as simple as this - when things go wrong as they sometimes do, you would rather face it positively than crib about why it happened. So, you tell yourself - ok, it should be because I can do better or God has better plans, so let me think about what best can be done now. And bingo! you are outta of the "why me? why now?" cycle which most of the times, just ends up disturbing your peace of mind.

But when sometimes a series of contradicting things happen to you and you can't get anywhere trying to understand that, should you still believe that it has all happened for a reason? Hmm.. maybe you should think about it. After all, thinking positive (or, if you would want to put it as - believing in God) in ALL circumstances in life has never been a easy task, you see..

For me? No, thanks!

On the 12th day of month May not too many years ago, a girl was born. And as is the case every other time, the first thing that came to everyone's mind when the child was born was - whats the name? A name, name, name.. such a difficult thing to decide on for any parents.. coz, there are sooo many things to keep in mind - has to be unique, has to be easy to pronounce, has to be nice to hear, has to be modern...and.. the list goes on.. And like very few other cases, it was the child's grandma who came up with a name - Preethi.

And years later, the kannada film industry decided to use the very same name in lots of the titles of the movies . Just have a look at some of the titles:
1. Preethse [ Love ( in the verb form) ]
2. Preethigaagi [ For Love]
3. Preethi.. Nee illade naa hegirali? [ Love.. How will I be without you? ]
4. Preethi yeke bhoomimelide [ Why is love on earth? ] (yet to release!)
5. Preethsod thappa? [ Is it wrong to love? ]
6. Preethigoskara [ For Love]

Just before you ask me whether I have watched these movies, let me tell you one thing, my expectations from kannada movies are a little higher than from any other language, coz its my mother tongue. And I watch a kannada movie only if it looks really nice to me. And none of the above movies even remotely motivated me to watch it and I was too scared to experiment and see how grossly my name could have been misused...

Anyway, my friends have been telling me that there is some serial called "Preethi illada mele" [ After love is not there ]. Could not stop laughing when I heard this title. I have been telling my friends "What would you do if I am not there? Go, watch the serial! "

Well, this blog probably did not teach you anything apart from a few movie names and a serial name. Anyway, being a friend of mine, I guess you should be knowing them! Probably will think of better things to write about from next time!

Matrix!!

Anyone who has seen this movie would agree that it is one of the best movies Hollywood has produced in the recent past. Esp, the first Matrix movie. Awesome.

I still remember that day I watched it. I was in II PUC and just had come home after my tuitions. My brother said we could watch this new movie called Matrix. I just wanted a break from my regular routine and I agreed. We decided to watch after dinner. The movie started but it did not make sense to me initially. I was not very used to watching sci-fi English movies then and found it difficult to keep up with the pace of these kinda movies. Thankfully, my brother started narrating what was happening and then, I started getting the interest.

As the movie progressed, it started showing some really interesting things - a man able to jump from one building to another just after he started BELIEVING it. Then, he BELIEVED that he could be fast enough to miss a bullet fired from a gun right in front of him. Then, he BELIEVED that he could learn kung fu and be REALLY fast at it within no time. Everything worked just perfectly. It was all just about belief. Wow.

I was just spellbound. The movie had got over but I could not sleep for almost an hour. Not that, I was thinking of jumping from buildings or how to miss a bullet and all Image. But, it was the first time ever that I was thinking so seriously about BELIEF. I was thinking what the movie was trying to convey. Believe, and the world will do the rest for you to make your dreams come true. No wonder the movie became such a big hit. Ofcourse it had its share of special effects and all that, but it was the theme that was so appealing. I think belief is easily the best gift that God has given us. Just that we mortal beings should realise that belief is the first step to realise the dreams we have.

To blog or not to blog

As the title suggests, I've been thinking of this for a while now. Finally, after a little bit of self motivation and a lot more persuasion from people around, I thought maybe I should try it. I still don't know what I can write about; but I know of a few people who started with that exact feeling and ended up blogging a lot. So, maybe, I can try it too. Image I don't expect to be very regular at this. But lets see how it goes.
